Caring for Your Ottawa Granite Countertops

Whether you have granite in your bathroom or kitchen, you need to care for and clean your granite regularly.  While granite is a super tough stone for your Ottawa countertops with a variety of styles and colors, it still needs some TLC.

Besides regular cleaning with water and none-abrasive cleansers, you’ll need to make sure the granite is sealed periodically – either by yourself or a TNT professional. Sealing the counterops helps granite resist stains and cracking.

On a regular, day-to-day, basis use a microfiber cloth to dust off the surface. Wipe down the granite countertop using water. Weekly you will want to wipe down with a damp cloth and a stone cleaner formulated with a neutral pH.

How do you know when your Ottawa Granite counterops need re-sealing? You’ll see that water splashed on the surface no longer beads up. Inspect multiple areas as it is likely they will need to be sealed once a year to avoid cracking or shifting at the seams, stains and scratches.
