Mistakes To Avoid When Selecting Ottawa Granite

Ottawa granite is functional… ottawa granite is beautiful and of course a great investment for your home value.  Let’s just assume for this post that you are “sold” on Ottawa granite countertops.  But before you actually buy, there are some tips for choosing your granite slab we’d like you to have in your back pocket…

Don’t Rely On Your Memory
Whether you have lived in your home for ten days or ten years, have pictures of the area, color samples and even paint swatches, cabinetry, flooring, and drapes when possible.  Don’t go with your gut – go with facts and find Ottawa granite that matches your home.

Don’t Forget the Edge
An overlooked aspect when selecting Ottawa granite can often be the edge of the slab.  Different granite edges look great with different types of cabinets.  And if you have young kids running around you will want your Ottawa granite to have smooth or bottom edges to reduce the risk of them getting hurt.

Color Considerations Beyond the Look
While Ottawa granite is stain resistant, light colors are more susceptible to staining should you neglect regular sealing of your granite while darker Ottawa granite slabs with don’t stain as easily.
