Ottawa Countertops: Avoiding Bad Granite

When you are in the market for granite countertops in Ottawa, keep in mind that all granite is not created equal.  It is a common misconception that granite is granite – but not true. If you are finding a wide variance in granite prices, you may be looking at inferior quality – which can be extra susceptible to scratches and staining.

Granite can also have inconsistencies in thickness, resulting in waeknesses and hairline cracks in multiple locations. Often this can cause a slab to break – even after it has been installed – but most often when a sink is being installed.

Granite hardness also varies depending on the source – if you end up with a piece that is too soft, you can be sure you will get scratches, staining, and pitting.
