Redecorating: Small Budget, Big Impact: Ottawa Granite Countertops Make The Room

If you’re like most people, a large renovation may not be in your budget. By doing small redecorating projects around your home you can keep things updated.  Good areas to consider are the powder room or even a small bathroom.  Changing the paint colour, updating fixtures and changing out the old countertop can really give a face lift to a dated room.  A great place to begin your project is by choosing a new countertop.  This will give you a focal point and a colour scheme to work with.

When looking at countertops, upgrading from a laminate top to a granite or quartz countertop will really add a sense of luxury to the room.  You’ll want to look for a local granite fabricator who has a large selection of granite slabs to choose from.  TNT Tile & Marble is a custom fabricator of quartz and granite Ottawa countertops.  Not only do they carry over 200 slabs of stone, they also carry a large variety of off-cut pieces of granite and quartz.  These remnant pieces no longer match any stock colours so they are offered at a discounted price.  Normally, quartz countertops in Ottawa are more expensive than granite countertops in Ottawa.  This is because quartz countertops, such as Hanstone and Caesarstone, need to be manufactured into slabs.  Whereas, granite is natural stone and is quarried into slabs.  TNT Tile & Marble prices all of their Granite remnant pieces, at the same price.  Luckily, you end up getting a high end product for a very low price.

When shopping for off-cut pieces for a small bathroom, bar area or even a fireplace, the easiest way to choose a piece is to come prepared. The remnant pieces come in varying sizes and shapes. If you bring your measurements you can be sure that the piece you fall in love with will actually be the right size you need.  Also, bring anything that you already have in the room that you would like to match, such as flooring and cabinet colours.  This will help to co-ordinate all the different finishes within the room.  Once you’ve found the perfect piece, you can book a time to have your Ottawa granite or Ottawa quartz fabricator come out to template your cabinets for your new countertop.

Making small changes, like upgrading your countertop and paint colours can really impact the look of a room.  By shopping for off cut pieces of granite and quartz, you will be able to stay within your budget.  Guests will be amazed at your newly redecorated powder room and they will never know that it wasn’t a large renovation.

I’m looking for a remnant piece to match a vanity top in my bathroom for a small laundry folding table. I need a finished piece 18″ x 32″ in either solid black or black with tiny white specks. Do you have a piece that would be suitable and if so, at what cost? Thanks!
